Is it wrong to use an article before "apple pie" and "ice cream"?

1. "We make apple pie."

2. "I eat ice cream."

The use of articles depends on context. You have given us none.

I have no context unfortunately. The question is can I use them without an indefinite article.

When is it also possible to omit an indefinite article before a countable noun? "Pie" is a countable noun, isn't it?
