''That sh*t is art yo", what does it mean?
I came across it in the movie ''Jailbait" 2014.

It's hard to say, but a little more context might help. (Maybe not.)

I do know that "yo" is used to get somebody's attention. Maybe it's used that way here except it's at the end of the sentence instead of the beginning.

I'm not sure why "yo" is at the end but "That sh*t is art" is the relevant part of the sentence. @Homayun Do you understand what that means? In the transcription, there should be a comma after "art".

Well, I don't think that's meant literally, but I could be wrong.

When "yo" is at the end, definition 3 from UrbanDictionary seems right to me, particularly when yo is in harness with "that sh*t":

3. Filler-speech when a need to look "gangsta" is at hand.

By the way @Homayun there are at least two movies entitled Jailbait. One features a young man and the other a young woman. Which are you referring to?

That sh*t is art.

Also, I didn't say it's not meant literally. I think it isn't meant literally, but I'm not sure. If in in that scene they are looking at some poop then yes, it is meant literally.

It wasn't clear that you were referring only to the word "sh*t".

Well, it's an important part of the sentence. Let's change it to "thing" for a minute. If somebody says "That thing is art" it's pretty clear that the person is referring to some object. However, some people are in the other word rather loosely.

Those people speak a patois I am not familiar with.

"That sh*t" is used in lots of variants/dialects and by many people.

Helen: Have you tried the new veggie burger from Grubbs?
Sarah: Oh my god! That sh*t is delicious. I had one yesterday.

Dave: Have you heard Roxy's new album?
Bob: That sh*t rocks. I really wanna see them live.

Unfortunately, that's all too true. That's why I said I wasn't sure about it. (I don't know how to make that clearer.)

I find it rather distasteful -- especially when it's it's used to refer to food. Yuck!
