1) A TV set gives us the feeling as if we see the whole world in front of us sitting in the cosy comfort of the living room.

2) A TV set gives us the feeling as if we saw the whole world in front of us sitting in the cosy comfort of the living room.

Are both of the above sentences grammatically correct?

No, using "as if we ..." doesn't work after "gives us the feeling".

A TV gives us the feeling ("impression" would be better) that we can see the whole world from the comfort of our own living room.

How can I rewrite the sentence using 'as if'?

When we watch TV, it's as if the whole world is right before our eyes.
