I think ''late'' is noun and ''be'' makes it verb,by the way I don't know I am just guessing, would you like to tell me?

Yes, of course. "Late" isn't a noun. It's an adjective in this sentence.

We can say

I am late. :tick:

You are late. :tick:

He will be late. :tick:

They were late. :tick:

The adjective "late" needs the verb "be" in these sentences. In English, every sentence must have a verb.

So we cannot say

I late. :cross:

You late. :cross:

He late. :cross:

They late.
:cross:

These are not correct sentences, because they don't have any verbs.
