Hello everyone,
I'm reading an article about the current American president Joe Biden in Wikipedia and have come across the following sentence:
"Biden entered office nine months into a recovery from the COVID-19 recession and his first year in office was characterized by robust growth in real GDP, employment, wages and stock market returns, amid significantly elevated inflation."
I can't fully understand the construction in bold. Does it mean that Biden assumed the office when the COVID epidemics had been raging for nine months?
