Hello.

Have I used the verb "brood" correctly and naturally here?

She would go for long solitary walks while brooding about different things.
 
If you follow the verb with a preposition phrase, use over not about.

It's better than it was as you've changed the preposition.

I don't like your phrase different things. And if I were feeling picky, I'd take issue with your use of while.
