I would say it's countable and used in the singular. It would be unlikely that someone would be executed using more than one method at the same time!

In the sentence you quoted, it could be rephrased as "...her death sentence may still be carried by another method". "Some" here really means only one.

Quite commonly, yes.

Meaning the exact other day or, as in your original example, method isn't particularly important.

Yes.

I don't like these biscuits. I'm going to go to the shop and buy some other biscuits.

My friend approached me and then some other people appeared from round the corner.

I'm busy now. I'll do it some other time.

I don't think it was my brother you saw. I think it was probably some other bloke.
