Is it correct?
I want to express an idea that I'm surprised now that he did it
Eg: I wouldn't expect if he had done it

If he did it, and if you are surprised, you can't really make a conditional sentence of it.

I didn't expect him to do something like that.

Thanks for your version

Please, explain me why may not be used " if" in this situation?

Please, explain [STRIKE]me[/STRIKE] why 'if' may not be used [STRIKE]" if"[/STRIKE] in this situation?
Because we are dealing with reality, not hypothesis.

In BrE, if it was in the past, I would say "I wouldn't have expected him to do something like that".

So, what do you think about this version?

Why/how did you quote the contents of my post #9 in your post #10 without it showing up in a quote box and attributing the words to me? If you wish to quote someone else in your post, you must click on "Reply with Quote" - the quote will automatically come up in a pale blue box showing clearly who wrote it.

I don't know what you mean by "So what do you think about this version?" About what version? My version? Well, I rather like it, but that's quite likely considering I wrote it.

You're totally right.
In general, I wouldn't expect him to do a thing like that.
In this case, I wouldn't have expected him to do a thing like that.
