Is it common to use courteous with comment?
 
I agree; it's possible, but I can't say that it's particularly common.

Why don't you give us an example of a sentence with the two words in and we'll tell you whether it sounds natural. I already agree with the others that it's probably not terribly common but to be honest, using of the word "courteous" isn't very common these days.
 
Well that's just common courtesy.

"Common courtesy" is admittedly a fairly common phrase. I'm still not sure about using "comment" with "courteous" though.

I find that a great shame, but have to agree that most younger people would think it sounded archaic.

Your suggestion seems ok to me. "He responded with a courteous comment although he disagreed in principle."
