Could you please explain the sentence "culture acquired spontaneously?

I read from the book of Ms. Maria Montessori (Absorbent mind) which is the book about Montessori method of teaching

What do you understand by each of the words?

culture means development?
acquired means obtained or learn?
spontaneously means naturally

Does it means human intellectual development occured naturally?

I take it to mean culture that is learned naturally.

A sentence with that phrase in it would help.
"It is something that culture acquired spontaneously." means something different.

@njt2009: Can you provide a bit more of the text in which you found it?

The press began to speak of "culture acquired spontaneously." Psychologists wondered if these children were somehow different from others, and we ourselves puzzled over it for a long time. Only after repeated experiments did we conclude with certainty that all children are endowed with this capacity to "absorb" culture. If this be true - we then argued - if culture can be acquired without effort, let us provide the children with other elements of culture. And then we saw them "absorb" far more than reading and writing...

I also wondered the meaning of culture in this sentence.

Education is not simply a matter for them of teaching reading and writing but involves more important things that are included in the concept of culture.

It seems that education is not so much a matter of teaching anything, but rather providing stimuli for the child's absorptive capacity to work upon.
