[Idiom] Cut In Half

I could cut an apple "in half." Could I cut an apple in third/fourth/fifth, etc....

Yes, you could cut it in half. Beyond that, it would be into thirds, quarters, fifths, etc. (That is, you would not say "cut it in quarter," but "cut it into quarters.")
