Let’s Go Bats

Bats have a problem: how to find their way around in the dark they hunt at flight, and cannot use light to help them find prey and avoid obstacles. You might say that this is a problem of their own making one that they could avoid simply by changing their habits and hunting by day. But the daytime economy is already heavily exploited by other creatures such as birds. Given that there is a living to be made at night, ,,,,

1. What does "daytime economy" mean here? "economic activities like hunting, buying, selling or surviving"?
2. What does "Let's go bats" mean here? "Let's be like bats"?

Bats are unique creatures because they do things differently. Figuratively speaking, it's the same with some people who think and act in an unusual, unorthodox way. They stand out from the crowd.

Be different! I think this is the message here. ;-)

Daytime economy means daytime 'food availability and hunting activity'. Let's go bats is an example of a fairly typical half-metaphor in English-language journalism: if you write a headline that reminds people of some well-known phrase, you can use it; there is no need to ensure it is at all applicable to the situation. I think this is a combination of "Let's go" and "gone batty" (crazy).

In BrE, we use "to go/be bats" as well as "to go batty" to mean "to go/be crazy".
