This is an entry from my diary. Please check it and correct any mistakes.

I gained some weights lately, and I felt annoyed about it because my shoes got tight. I've been trying to cut sugar, and it's hard because I crave sugary food and drink all the time. However, I've avoided sugar successfully for five days and lost 1 kg. Hopefully, I keep it up for at least a month. Now, when I pick snacks, I will check the label to see if they contain sugar. To my surprise, my favourite fish shreds contain a lot!

You gained some weight lately.

You've been trying to reduce your sugar intake/consumption.

I guess you mean you've been eating less candy and other sweets (cookies and cake and such).

Now, when I pick snacks I check the label to see how much sugar is in them.

I assume that fish shreds is some kind of a snack

Finger food!
🙂

I'd accept "sugary food and drink". I take "food and drink" to be a recognised type of sustenance, like "fruit and veg" (which we also don't pluralise).
