The polluted water of the factory is discharged into the river.

If I want to change this sentence into an inversion structure, is it "Into the river was discharged the polluted water of the factory?"

Yes, if you change 'was' to 'is'.

Why are you learning this kind of inversion, neb090? There are so many other things to be learning instead.

The second sentence is very unnatural.

Because inversion structure is what I have been learning in my English class these days.

That doesn't answer the question. Who is telling you to learn this structure? Are you using a book?

If so, does the book tell you when to use these inversion structures as well as how?

My English textbook says by putting "adverb phrases" in front of a sentence, it emphasizes the adverb phrases.

Which book are you using? What's the title and who's the author?

If you're going to learn without help from a teacher, it is very important that you work from a good book.

I don't think that book is very good for you. I mean, if you acquired a much better book, your learning would improve significantly.

From your questions about inversion, it seems to me that the book has not made it at all clear when or why you should do it.
