Entitled vs titled

Could someone explain to me the difference between "entitle" and "title"? Does it make a difference in the sentences below whether one uses "entitle" or "title"?

"He entitled/titled the book...."

"The book is entitled/titled...."

(a) A book entitled Woe Unto You, Lawyers! (past-participal adjective)

BUT

(b) What are you going to title your article? NOT: What are you going to entitle your article? (Used as transitive verb)
