Error with the use of verb PROVIDE here?

The text below was posted by the US authorities amid the war in the Middle East some days ago.

I'd like to focus on the underlined words. Shouldn't the sentence read "...by providing you WITH the latest information..."? I thought the structure was provide someone with something.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated so you can make decisions about your safety. If you want to leave Iraq, the U.S. government is ready to assist by providing you the latest information about the departure options available. President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Department of State have no higher priority than the safety and security of American citizens.
 
Here in Canada, the "with" is optional but is more commonly used than omitted. Like @Rover_KE I consider the with version more natural.
