a. She has been living there for some time now.
b. She has been living there for a while.
c. She has been living there for a considerable space in time.

Hi.
Do they all work for you?

The first two do. The third does not.

Do not use "a considerable space in time". It's not natural in any context.

Thanks for noting that. I just saw the phrase in the book The Well-Spoken Thesaurus by Tom Heehler. Took my attention, so decided to create a thread about it. It was suggested as an alternative for "for a while". Now, I know it doesn't work.

It is an explanation for "for a while", but is not meant to be an alternative.

If Tom Heehler had said "for a considerable period of time", it'd have sounded much better.

Took my attention
You probably mean "caught my attention".
