"For" in my sentence

Hello.

Can I use "for" in my sentence?

"I make an effort for my homework."
 
No. The sentence really won't work with any preposition I can think of.

I agree that "for" is no good, but how about "with"?
I guess it's possible. I can't imagine a native speaker producing it.
 
I'd happily accept "with".

I can see that you made a huge effort with your homework.
