[Idiom] get in one's own way

is "get in one's own way" an idiom?

I am not sure if I understand this sentence:
One is inclined to get in one's own way.

I haven't met it. I have met 'trip over one's own feet'.

If you try to cause harm, and necessarily (by doing it) hurt youself, you 'cut off your nose to spite your face' - but that's not the same (it's just an idiom you might find useful ;-))
