"A teacher’s aide with the Los Angeles Unified School District has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to have sexual contact with a 15-year-old student."

Does "have sexual contact" mean talk dirty or send obscene emails/letters? I thought "have contact" means "communication", not touching.

NOT A TEACHER

"Contact" can many things. See for example:

2touch [ uncountable ] when two people or things touch each other contact with/between Children need physical contact with a caring adult.
The disease spreads by sexual contact between infected animals.

contact - Definition from Longman English Dictionary Online

In your example sentence, it means sexual (physical) contact between two people (intercourse and so on).

So, merely "have contact with" somebody is ambiguous?
