Hello!

I would like to know which of these 2 sentences are gramatically correct:

He just saw her running past a minute ago.

Or

He just saw her run past a minute ago.

Or can both be used?

Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to the forum. :)
Is the information on your profile page correct?

I would like to know which of these [STRIKE]2[/STRIKE] two sentences [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] is grammatically correct.
He just saw her running past a minute ago.
[STRIKE]Or[/STRIKE]
He just saw her run past a minute ago.
Or can both be used?
Thanks!
Both can be used but note the following.
1- There's no real need to use both "just" and "a minute ago". Use one of them.
2- The "-ing" version suggests that the running was of some duration or that it hadn't ceased, while the other version suggests that he saw her briefly run past him. The difference here is subtle, but consider:

I saw him dig that field yesterday.
I saw him digging that field yesterday.

In the second, the digging may have continued beyond the observation.
