Hi.

What is the difference [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] between these sentences?

1. space here Hellen must have seen the film.
2. space here Hellen should have seen the film.

What do you think is the difference?

Also, have a look at the multiple previous threads on the forum regarding must/should and modals in general.

hi.
What difference is between these sentences?
1.Hellen must have seen the film.
2.Hellen should have seen the film.

In the #1 sentence, it shows the presumption of perfect tense - Whether Hellen has seen the film or not, I don't know, that is why I am using the word 'must have' here. Hence we can conclude that when we don't know the exact status of an 'action' whether it has been done or not, we use 'must have + verb (past participle).

In the #2 sentence, it shows the advice/suggestion indicating past tense. Let's understand with the given examples :
E.g.
Hellen should see the film (Hellen has not seen the film till now so she is suggested to see it)
Hellen should have seen the film (Hellen should see the film in the past but she did not see it)
