Hi.

I met a woman who attended a local English club the other day. When she was introducing herself, she mentioned her husband. She said her husband works in a hospital in the radiology department, sitting in a room to look at the images of bodies of patients. I wonder if it's natural to say "Her bushband is a radiology doctor".

Yes, but more likely, I think, is:

Her husband is a radiologist.

Thanks a lot, Tarheel. I think "a radiologist" is a specialist of radiology and I think a doctor might learn that subject but not necessarily is a specialist. Please enlighten me.

A radiologist is a medical doctor who has undergone specialist training in radiology, which is to do with X-ray and medical imaging, just like other specialists such as surgeon, paediatrician, pathologist, anaesthesist, etc.

Silverobama, look up the difference between radiologist and radiographer and let us know if that clarifies it for you. Note that "radiology doctor" is unnatural.

I think the term I'm looking for is "radiologist", but I guess, probably, doctors do both work of a radiologist and a radiographer.

I wonder if the sentence is okay now.

Her husband is a radiologist.

The sentence is fine now.

In Europe and the USA a doctor wouldn't normally undertake the duties of a radiographer.
