Is it all right to post a question or to ask for grammar check? How do I arrange this sentence?
"The day is near, and the nearer it is, the more I get excited."

Welcome to UsingEnglish.com, lemmor!

It may be better to say 'The day is drawing near'.

I am not a teacher.

Hi Matthew!! I really appreciate to get an answer from you and I hope to get more "corrections" to my sentence!
I am trying to say here that, as the day comes "closer", I get more excited or worried, because I still don't know what will happen on that day. Is it correct to say: "The closer the day is, the more excited/worried I get".

I would say "The day is near, and the closer it gets, the more excited I am/become."

lemmor, please note that a better title would have been The day is near.

Extract from the Posting Guidelines:

'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

I would say "The day is near, and the closer it gets, the more excited I am/become."

thanks Mike, thanks to everyone who tries to help !! This is my first time, the first site where i officially signed in and the only site where I got to be answered. I'll tell my friends about this great site!!

I"m glad you found this a good experience.

In future threads, please give titles that reflect the content of your thread. This one could have been "The day is near" or "the closer it gets" or something like that. Thanks.

Thanks Mike and thanks to everyone who tries to help! This is my first time here, the first site where I have officially signed in and the only site where [strike] I got to be[/strike] my questions were answered. I'll tell my friends about this great site!

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

I would move the commas in your original and add "drawing".

The day is drawing near and, the closer it gets, the more excited I become/get.

Please look at my amendments to your post above in red. It's important to follow the rules of written English:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with a single, appropriate punctuation mark.
- Always capitalise the word "I".
- Always capitalise proper nouns (English, Shakespeare, Microsoft, London).
- Do not put a space before a comma, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.
- Always put a space after a comma, full stop, question mark or exclamation mark.
