NOT A TEACHER

Hello, emp0608:

1. Thank you for introducing that custom to us.

2. I have found on the Web an (illustrated) article in which that custom is discussed (along with two examples of "chocolate" being used as a count noun).

3. Please google these words: Japanese women challenge Valentine's Day tradition of giving chocolate to male coworkers.

Thank you, TheParser:
Yes, the tradition is changing. The company the female student who gave me the box of chocolate works at gift-exchanging among coworkers has long been banned. And also she didn’t forget to buy a chocolate gift for herself – a very expensive one at that.

One day, The Parser will shock us all by posting a link! ;-)

I can assure you that you will never be shocked.

This is one old dog that cannot learn new tricks, unless perhaps someone sits at his side and directs his every step.

Thanks again for your kindness in posting the link, ems. (I DID remember not to add "r.")

The Parser—it will take you no more than a couple of minutes to learn how to paste a link onto one of your posts here.

See if the following tutorial works you. (After you have pressed 'Copy' and gone back to the forum post you want to paste it to, just right click on your mouse where you want the link to go in the text box, and a box will pop up. Select 'Paste' and voila, you've done it.)

Edit: Oops. Rather embarrassingly, I managed to copy the wrong link! Try the one above.
