A friend of mine has the following written in his profile on a dating app. I don't think it's well written though:
The original: "I like reading books, walking, chatting, swimming and traveling."
The bold part strikes me as unnatural because it sounds like he simply likes moving on foot when the intended meaning is "I like going for a stroll in the park and walking about the city".

Two questions:
1. Is my reasoning that the bold sounds unnatural correct?
2. Is my amendment any improvement to the original?

I must be overthinking it then. Thank you.

The only (slightly) unnatural thing for me is 'reading books'. Most people I know who like doing this would not add 'books'. If you like reading, the assumption is that you read books.

I wonder whether chatting means online or face to face.

We have no way of knowing. My guess is both.
