Tonight I chatted with Nannie. During our conversation, I told her that I read an article and it mentions that Singapore is a city. When we were young, we were taught that Singapoe is a country. Is my sentence natural and grammatical.

I think that 'said' would be more natural. You read the article in the past.

I assume you're talking about your grandmother at the beginning. Note my changes above.
