"I requested a fax from your IVR system" or "I requested a fax through your IVR syste

"I requested a fax from your IVR system" or "I requested a fax through your IVR system". Which one is correct?

Re: "I requested a fax from your IVR system" or "I requested a fax through your IVR s

I think you need to explain what "IVR" stands for.

(#1 is the most likely, I suppose.)

Re: "I requested a fax from your IVR system" or "I requested a fax through your IVR s

"I requested a fax from your IVR system"

That means you asked their IVR system to send you a fax.

or "I requested a fax through your IVR system".

That means you used their IVR system to ask for a fax.

Which one is correct?

You tell us!
It depends on the context.

IVR means interactive voice response that you often hear when you call your phone service provider.

It depends on the context.

Is the second one correct because we use IVR to do something?

Yes, you're right. Now that you have explained what an IVR is, I understand the question. Use the second one.

Do we also say "I got this information through 'your IVR' or 'thei IVR'"?

I think "From" is correct in this context. Am I correct? "I got this information from the IVR".

I think "From" is correct in this context. Am I correct? "I got this information from the IVR".

I don't think the IVR system can "think" and "give" the information to you (unless it is so advanced that it works like a robot using AI). IVR is basically an automatic answering machine which records your message. Someone would read the message and take the action - search for the information from the computer and send it to you.
So I wouldn't say you get the information from the IVR.

That might be overthinking the issue- I don't see anything really wrong with from. You ask for the information and get it- the inner workings don't matter to me.

No, it does give us information.

Yes, I get required information directly from the IVR. If I am getting the information directly from the IVR then I can say 'I got the information from the IVR", right?

Re: "I requested a fax from your IVR system" or "I requested a fax through your IVR s

I think so, though others may feel differently.

Do you never make a mistake in Hindi?

Tufguy, you seem to think Tdol is infallible. He is clearly not willing to agree with you.
