Hi,

What is the difference between "If I were good at maths, I would have become a teacher" and "if I had been good at maths, I would have become a teacher"?
Can I say both?

Thank you!

Hi.

What is the difference between "If I were good at maths, I would have become a teacher" and "If I had been good at maths, I would have become a teacher"?
Can I say both?
Using "If I were" makes a statement about your general (and current) ability with maths. Using "If I had been" refers only to how good you were at it in the past.
