Wish you and Rania a "Happy Makar Sankranit"(it is a festival observed on transition of Sun over tropic of Capricorn). Today, there would be cooking in many homes, jaggery chapati(chapati stuffed with chapati) and many people would be flying kites.
In South India it is called "Pongal" and in the Northern state of Punjab it is called "Lohadi". It is a harvest festival. Wish you were here to see those festivites.
Wish you all a Happy Thursday.
That was the Karnataka(a South Indian state, where Rasna llives) version of Makar Sankranti!Sankranti is the movement of the sun from one raashi (zodiac sign) to another.
How did you celebrate Sankranti?
I celebrate on this day with special pooja offered to the gods and a mixture “Yellu” was prepared using Sesame Seeds, Jaggery, Groundnuts, Fried Gram and Coconut and offered to the gods along with Sakkare Achchu/Sugar dolls, Sugarcane, Banana etc. A Sakkare Pongal/Sweet rice was prepared and relished by one and all. In the evening, I wored new cloth and distributed Yellu, Sakkare Achchu, Sugarcane piece, Banana to friends, neighbours and relatives.
