Keeping it all together during tough times can hurt you .

What does "keep it all together" mean?

Thanks!

Jason

Without further context, it could mean "not falling apart psychologically"; "keeping yourself sane and healthy in mind, body and spirit."
That's a colloquial phrase, but is the most common usage. It's hard to see why it's dangerous in tough times though.

Naturally, "keeping it all together" can have other meanings, such as keeping all your shares in one company, which definitely can be dangerous in tough times - so-called "keeping all your eggs in the one basket."
