Keep off(out of) the grass?

I think out of also makes sense in the below, but is it impossible? My grammar books says off is the answer.

ex)Keep off(out of) the grass.
 
It's not impossible. But it seems your book is trying to teach you common expressions that are in actual use in English. Not all possibilities.
