Hello everybody, I have run into a sentence which gave me food for thought:

Squirrels are said to gather and store nuts to keep themselves alive through the winter.

I wonder if I replaced " alive " with " living " the sentences is still true. If it is not, please tell me why.

Thank for reading :).

Living would be fine, but alive is more customary.

Thanks for reading.[STRIKE] :).[/STRIKE]

Please see:
End every sentence with a standard punctuation mark – not a home-made emoticon.

It is a common mistake for learners to use "true" when it should be "correct".
