keep to the subject

What do you think of saying "stay on the subject" or "stay with the subject" in the sense of "keep to the subject"?
 
Not a teacher

I'd rather say: 'stick to the subject', 'hang to the subject'.
 
What about "stay on the subject" and "stay with the subject"?
