Keep your hands at the level of your eyes.

I saw that sentence as a meme HERE.

I'm not sure what they mean. Something like THIS? And if it's something like this, wouldn't it sound more natural to say Keep your hands at eye level or Keep your hands level with your eyes?
 
It's a line from the musical The Phantom of the Opera(1984).

This is from the movie adaptation:
(at around [0:57])(Later on you'll see the young gent place his hand at the level of his eyes)

"Keep your hands at the level of your eyes" so the young gent can block his eyesight with his hands upon seeing the hideous phantom.
