The Bharatiya Janata Party
has long since lost its brand image of being a party
“with a difference.” Even the joke about the BJP being a party “with differences” has begun to fray at the edges.

What does the words in blue mean in this context?

Does it mean that
it lost it's brand image a long ago
?

For further context:
The Hindu : Opinion / Editorial : The knives are out.

It lost its brand image of being a party with a difference a long time ago- in other words, it became a party like any other- there's nothing different or special about it according to the writer, not because of its ideas but because of the feuds between factions and people in it.

Thanks for the reply Tdol.

And why is my question separated into two lines when I wrote it in one line?

And why is my question separated into two lines when I wrote it in one line?

Is there any better way(or natural way) of asking this?

Thanks for the reply Tdol.

There's a lot of code in your question that suggests you copied and pasted stuff. If you don't paste as text only, then some code can also be copied.

Since the site was upgraded, there have been a lot of issues with the formatting of the text in posts. It's happened to all of us. Don't worry. I've stopped assuming that people are laying out their posts badly and just assume it's the software. I think the administrators are working on it so hopefully it wil be fixed soon.

Thanks for the replies.

And please answer my post 4. Should I start another thread for it?

Post 4 is OK, david. We knew what you meant.

You could perhaps change 'question' to 'text'.
