GLOOMY

Out on the street on a gloomy night.
Back on my feet, trying to put me right.
Some people pass me by.
On seeing their pain scattered I confessed.
So thick and fast they'd lie,
but nothing else mattered.

Out in the rain on a gloomy night,
I grieved in vain at that gloomy sight.
Some people passed me by.
I could feel their crying pain scattered
throughtout their past.
But nothing else mattered.

I know, I was wrong.

trying to put me right

This sounds odd to me as you're doing it- you're trying to sort yourself out. You could use make things right to keep the rhyme.

"So thick and fast they'd lie"

Could the verb "to lie" have two different meanings ("to be in a horizontal position" and "not to tell the truth") in the sentence above?
