In a grammar book:
Many a boy and many a girl likes to communicate with each other through MSN.

=====================
I know 'many a + singular verb'.
But what about 'many a +N1 and many a +N2'?
Why does it use singular verb 'likes' after the structure 'A and B'?
If this stands the reason, why is the sentence 'Mary and John is a good student.' wrong?

Thank you in advance.

I think it is an error.
