Hello,

Please can you help me review my motivation letter for application to a masters? Kindly note:
1. There's no specific format or word limit
2. I don't know if I should include some salutation
3. I used some AI to write.
4. the deadline is in a two weeks

Plateau State was once home to everyone and we all lived in peace – we didn’t see tribe or religion – until some settlers demanded it was their right to rule but the indigenous people revolted; the attempt to establish political authority by those referred to as settlers and resistance by the indigenous population led to most of the past/recent violent clashes that’s also linked to struggle for agricultural land and particularly the conflict between Hausa-Fulani-Muslim and Christians. The scale of conflict since 1999/2000 represents the most extreme triumph of ethnic tension, religious fundamentalism, and sentimentalism

I would like to have seen a version written without any help from AI. If you're going to use AI to write your motivation letter, how do the people who run the program know that you're not going to do exactly the same thing during your studies?

Thank you so much for your insights however it was just for one or two paragraph. I have highlighted and Italicized the parts I used AI for, the rest were from research about the program, the schools and the work I'm currently designing (really, really... I was part of a program with ALX and this gave birth to my social enterprise; we were asked to research about a social issue aligned with the GCGO and SDGs, so some of my words came from this research and various applications to some entrepreneurial programs). Trust me, it's a mash up of various things but I wasn't sure if I was in the right direction but AI showed me I was and I decided to borrow some words from it.

The scale of conflict since 1999/2000 represents the most extreme triumph of ethnic tension, religious fundamentalism, and sentimentalism – I know because I was displaced by the 2008 crises in Jos, Plateau State and lost my source of income. However, I had a beautiful ending to my story because I had several great opportunities and I built a successful career in Sales – working with British American Tobacco, Guinness Nigeria and Japan Tobacco International.

These experiences inspired my journey and fueled a desire to build innovative solutions to societal problem, and empower forcibly displaced young girls and women who lost their income to violent crisis that ravaged their villages and destroyed their farms. My ultimate vision is to create a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable community – I hope to contribute to a future where forcibly displaced young girls and women can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope – by empowering them with skills, confidence and opportunities, the project will not only transforms their individual lives but also contributes to the economic and social fabric of the community; I strongly believe that when women thrive then families and the entire community benefits, and this creates a cycle of prosperity and ripple effect of empowerment across all identities.

I am deeply passionate about my long-term goals and this is the reason I decided to pursue the Erasmus Mundus Master in Impact Entrepreneurship which fits my need to continue to develop my competencies, become the actor of positive change that I want to be, and further develop the intervention for forcibly displaced young girls and women; this program is effective considering its relevance and dynamism, it’s the capstone to add knowledge to my professional portfolio and intensively prepare me in my pursuit to create a safe space for forcibly displaced young girls and women. In addition, I’ll bring a strong sense of continuous learning and collaboration – these qualities, coupled with my drive to contribute to both the program and the global entrepreneurial community, make me a fitting candidate for this esteemed master’s program.

Zagreb, Vilnius and Liege embodies everything that I find appealing about Europe and offers a wide range of global perspective that will enrich my education and experience; furthermore, Europe has proven over time to provide the best environment where one can truly nurture and build their prospective. The exposure to different cultures and ethics while interacting with students from other parts of the world would help boost my interaction in an international and domestic business environment, and the EMMIE is globally recognized, innovative and entrepreneurial; it exploits the benefits of technology, fosters the creation of an inclusive economy driven by equity values, and blends academic rigor with practical experience in addressing global challenges through entrepreneurship. It also offers the right toolkit to:
• make connections through various networking opportunities provided throughout the program
• provide me with a deeper understanding of the challenges that need to be addressed
• create a smart strategy to identify the most effective leverages to act in order to optimize the impact.

Furthermore, the learning from this program will build me into an innovative problem solver and decision maker as well as further develop my leadership, analytical, organizational and teamwork skills which will be key in establishing an ecosystem that develops and sustains economic growth and environmental development; I’m hopeful that my choice will be a convenient steppingstone and clear pathway to the next level.

At the end of my study, I will go back to my home country Nigeria with my new skills and apply what I have learned to my work, and help young girls and women who are the most disenfranchised in our community so they can build their business and drive sustainable innovation, growth and jobs to our local communities; also, I strongly believe that with an education in Impact Entrepreneurship, I can contribute to the economic and social fabric of my community and build a more resilient, inclusive community.

Oh, I forgot to add, personal experience too 😁

Some initial comments:
1- Forget about using AI. People can see right through that, and it would be considered a weakness in your application.
2- Your first paragraph is background information at best. I would omit it if I were you.
3- You need to plan and then structure your letter of motivation. That means thinking about what areas you want to cover in it and setting out paragraphs for that. For example, you might want to talk about:
- Your background.
- Your achievements (academic and otherwise).
- Your future aspirations.
- What interests you in the particular program you're applying for.
- What makes you a suitable candidate for the program.
Oh, I forgot to add personal experience too.
Exactly! See my comments above.
I strongly suggest you rewrite your letter and please do not use AI. Focus on substance (facts and figures) and avoid meaningless waffle.

Okay. Noted. I'll like to point out that I'm expected to write two motivation letters for this application - one is for the program while the second is for the scholarship. We're expected to write two motivation letters and I don't understand why. However, I'll share the scholarship motivation letter and I promise you that I didn't use AI. Could you kindly check this while I work on the other one? Should I maintain same format for both letters?

I am writing to express my enthusiasm and desire to be considered for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship to study Master in Impact Entrepreneurship – as someone deeply passionate about supporting forcibly displaced young girls and women in Plateau State, I believe that this opportunity will be an essential step to deepen my knowledge, enhance my leadership capabilities, and scale my impact.

As an entrepreneur working on an impactful intervention for forcibly displaced women and girls in Plateau State, I have seen firsthand the power of entrepreneurship in transforming lives; through my work at The Victoria Women’s Community Project, we’ll train them in entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to reclaim their independence and contribute to the community – my experience has deepened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities in impact-driven ventures, and reinforced my desire to create systemic change.

Recently I completed the We Lead Food Program (sponsored by EIT Food), where I have been deeply engaged in developing my competencies, learning more about sustainable and inclusive food system, and designing a more impactful intervention for forcibly displaced young girls and women in Plateau State; I have always been particularly interested in creating sustainable solutions to help them use emerging technologies to continue farming in their new communities so they can earn an income, uplift their community, promote inclusive growth and improve their family’s well-being which aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the core objectives of EMMIE.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have actively participated in volunteer work and community engagement, which have allowed me to hone my communication, leadership and interpersonal skills that will be highly valuable in this program; through these experiences, I have not only witnessed the profound difference that innovative and purpose-driven entrepreneurship can make in people's lives but it has also deepened my desire to contribute positively to my community and have meaningful impact on the lives of young girls and women – a mission that I aim to advance through this opportunity.

However, despite my dedication and hard work, pursuing this opportunity requires resources and support which is a significant challenge and why I strongly desire to apply for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship; the financial support through this scholarship will provide me a great way to broaden my skills, and enable me to fully focus on my studies and practical experiences which will further enrich my academic journey. I have always been motivated by the belief that education is the key to solving many of the world’s challenges and as someone deeply committed to building a true community for forcibly displaced young girls and women, I am confident that the knowledge and exposure I’ll gain with the support of this scholarship would not only help me reach my personal and professional goals but also empower me to further develop my project and in turn empower young girls and women with skills, confidence, and opportunities so they can rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. Additionally, I am an ideal candidate for this scholarship because of my proven leadership in leading a team to design an inclusive intervention and my commitment to impact.

In conclusion, I am truly grateful for this opportunity to advance my competencies and network which will equip me to build a roadmap to drive systemic change and empower young girls and women; with your support, I can continue to grow and promote sustainable practices that drives the green transition. Thank you for considering my application and I am truly excited about the possibility of contributing to and learning from the prestigious Erasmus Mundus community.

I suppose the main application one is to demonstrate your suitability and eligibility for the study program, and the one for the scholarship is to show that you deserve the funding.
However, I'll share the scholarship motivation letter
What you wrote below seems more about the main application! I think your second letter should focus on convincing the assessment team that you are worthy/deserving of their financial support. Do you still want me to take a look at what you wrote, or do you want to change your strategy for writing the two letters?

I think I'll need to change my strategy for writing the two letters. Please can you share suggestions?

Were you not given any hints about what to cover?
What exactly do they say you have to write? Can you quote exactly the part about the two letters?

It wasn't specifically stated and here's what I found on the website:
1. A personal motivation letter in English outling why you are interested in the EMMIE program and ideas for the start-up company which will be developed during the program (maximum 2 pages).
2. If you are applying for a scholarship, please describe your interest for a full or partial scholarship (1 page maximum)

Then under FAQ, they wrote this:
Who should I address my motivation letter to? Is there a specific format?
You can address your motivation letters to: Emmie coordination committee.
There is no specific format for motivation letters. There are no specific requirements for CV pictures either

2. If you are applying for a scholarship, please describe your interest for a full or partial scholarship (1 page maximum)
OK. Try to do that. Write a brief letter outlining why you are a deserving candidate for the scholarship (money). Jot down as many ideas as you can think about, e.g., your financial resources, your family's financial situation/means/capability to pay for you, the fees for your study program, the estimated cost of living in the country you're going to, how you plan to budget your money, etc.
Post below.

Hi, I'm back with my motivation letter - this letter is to show why I deserve a position in the program. It's entirely different from the scholarship motivation letter.

Dear Members of the EMMIE Coordination Committee,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Erasmus Mundus Master in Impact Entrepreneurship program. As a passionate advocate for sustainable development and social innovation, I am eager to deepen my expertise and contribute meaningfully to addressing global challenges through entrepreneurial solutions.

Growing up in Plateau State, I experienced firsthand how everyone lived in peace and didn’t see tribe or religion until some settlers demanded it was their right to rule but the indigenous people revolted; the attempt to establish political authority by these “settlers” and resistance by the indigenous population led to most of violent clashes, and particularly the conflict between Hausa-Fulani-Muslim and Christians. The scale of conflict since 1999/2000 represents the most extreme triumph of ethnic tension, religious fundamentalism, and sentimentalism – I know because I was displaced by the 2008 crises in Jos, Plateau State and lost my source of income. This experience inspired my journey and fueled my desire to address systemic issues and build solutions such as empowering forcibly displaced young girls and women who lost their income to violent crisis that ravaged their villages and destroyed their farms.

With a background in Geography and Planning, I have cultivated a strong foundation in community engagement and a deep understanding of the challenges that need to be addressed, however, I recognize the need to deepen my expertise and drive meaningful impact in my community. As an entrepreneur, I designed an initiative for training forcibly displaced young girls and women in Plateau State while as a volunteer, I led capacity-building workshop that empowered 50 youths with skills to build micro-enterprises and foster financial independence; all these experiences have honed my ability to identify needs, design effectual interventions that create long lasting social impact, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

I am deeply passionate about my long-term goals and this is the reason I decided to pursue the Erasmus Mundus Master in Impact Entrepreneurship – it fits my need to continue to develop my competencies, become the actor of positive change that I want to be, and further develop my intervention for forcibly displaced young girls and women; I am particularly drawn to the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse cohort of like-minded individuals and learn from esteemed faculties across multiple institutions in Europe. The program’s emphasis on building core competencies in innovation, implementing impactful projects and blending academic rigor with practical experience in addressing global challenges through entrepreneurship, resonates with my vision of driving change. I am confident that this program’s global approach will equip me with the tools to navigate the complexities of impact entrepreneurship and amplify the scale of my initiatives; in addition, I’ll bring a strong sense of continuous learning and collaboration – these qualities, coupled with my drive to contribute to both the program and the global entrepreneurial community, makes me a fitting candidate.

My ultimate vision is to create a more inclusive, accessible, and equitable community – by leveraging the knowledge and network from this program, I hope to contribute to a future where forcibly displaced young girls and women can rebuild their lives with dignity; I strongly believe that when women thrive then families and the entire community benefits, and this creates a cycle of prosperity and ripple effect of empowerment across all identities.

Zagreb, Vilnius and Liege embodies everything that I find appealing about Europe and offers a wide range of global perspective that will enrich my education and experience; from being one of the Top 60 MBA in Europe and top 5% of business school in the world to 4 Palmes of Excellence and double accreditation with EQUIS and AACSB – these universities have bolstered high academic quality controls and ensures an education that is globally recognized, innovative and entrepreneurial, and exploits the benefits of technology. Furthermore, Europe has proven to provide the best environment where one can truly nurture and build their prospective, and the exposure to different cultures and ethics would help boost my interaction in an international and domestic business environment.

At the end of my study, I will go back to my home country Nigeria with my new skills and apply what I have learned to my work, and help young girls and women who are the most disenfranchised in our community so they can build their business and drive sustainable growth in our local communities; also, I strongly believe that with an education in Impact Entrepreneurship, I can make a lasting difference and contribute to the economic and social fabric of my community.

Thank you for considering my application. I am confident that my academic background, professional experiences, and unwavering commitment to drive positive social change makes me a natural fit for the Erasmus Mundus Master in Impact Entrepreneurship program, and I am really excited about the possibility of contributing to and growing within this prestigious program, and advancing my journey towards impactful entrepreneurship.

@ThatGirl Your problem is you can't write these things without help. You are biting off more than you can chew. What are you going to do when you have to do it on your own?
