Why is it the Eiffel Tower and not Eiffel Tower like e.g Victoria Station, Gatwick Airport e.t.c
They are all important public buildings.

Thanks

There's no rule about. Usually local custom decides whether the definite article is used.

Note that etc is thus written (though AE prefers to add a period (full stop) at the end).

However, in your post, a full stop after it is necessary as it ends the sentence.

Oops... regarding etc.

I am not satisfied with your explanation. I just don't get it. In what cases can local custom decide whether the definite article is used? Do they have a rule unknown to the masses?

Your native language is English?

People don't, in general, follow "rules" when they speak. They speak and that becomes the custom. There is no rational explanation for it.

People on the west coast of the US tend to call their highways "the 405" with an article. In the east, we don't do that. We would just say "I was on 95."

Thanks for the clarification.
