Is there a difference between "nice to meet you and " it was nice meeting you"? I guess the former is used when people meet for the first time while the latter is used when saying goodbye. Am I right or they have the same meaning?

Remember to capitalise the first letter of complete sentences inside quotation marks.

The first, if used when meeting for the first time, is a short form of "It's (It is) nice to meet you".
