2. Night light interferes with our sleep, causing insufficient rest for homeowners.

Which of 1 and 2 is correct? In 1, can't "a sufficient rest for homeowners" be the same word as "our sleep" ?

Why talk about homeowners in particular? I thought the problem is universal.
