Hi.

Our English club has an online group and the top number of a group (the maximum number of people a group can have) is 500. Now we have 500 people. Someone wanted to join the group so I told him "Sorry, our group is full". I wonder if it's natural to mean "Sorry, our group has already reached the maximum number of people". I think it's wrong.

"Sorry, our group is [already] full" is the best way I can think of saying it.

Wrong. It's not wrong.
It's fine.

"Sorry, the group's full" would be a little more natural, but the original is fine. You don't need the possessive when it's clear which group you're talking about.

You have a few other options too:

Sorry, the group is full.
Sorry, we don't have any spaces.
Sorry, we can't take any more members.

You should go on to say that you will offer them a place when a vacancy becomes available and you will keep their contact details for that purpose.

A very good suggestion, Rover. And I did say what you'd said to me to them. I appreciate your kindness.

And I did say what [STRIKE]you'd[/STRIKE] you said to me to them.

Well done on a fairly complicated construction. I made just one correction. The past perfect would have been right if Rover had told you what to say before you said it to the prospective member.

Note, though, that a native speaker would have said "I did tell them that".
