Thank you, but if it's got a button in front of it, and you open it from the top to put a parcel in, could it be:

Please leave parcel in box and press button to lock?

not to confuse a postman trying to push the top down to lock, instead of the button.
 
If X is a button, then use the word 'button'.

I'd write: Please leave parcel(s)...
