Hi,
May I know what is the most common name for this device in both BrE and AmE? Thanks a lot!

I (BrE) call it an extension lead. If I wish to be precise/technical, and indicate that it has (for example) four sockets, I will call it a four-gang extension lead.

Typically there are 6 outlets in a row.
In my flat, I have German, French and English extension leads with anything from one to four sockets, though I have seen six-gang leads.

ps. I have also heard them called wandering leads. I have no idea how common that term is.

I have a local extension lead and it has six sockets- it's more than I am used to. ;-)
