She is gaining weight.

Are these sentences in the meaning the same?
 
She is put on weight.
She is gaining weight.

Are these sentences in the meaning the same?


'She [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] put on weight.' Means she's gained additional weight, but is not evident she is still gaining weight.

'She is gaining weight.' Means she's gained additional weight, and is evident she is still gaining weight.
