Would you be kind enough to tell me whether I am right with my interpretation of the expression in bold in the following sentence?
Let him try that game on me, and I’ll soon put paid to it.
put paid to something (someone) = to suddenly stop someone from being able to do what they want or hope to do; make short work of it;fix someone; settle someone’s hash;
