[General] Question dog kennelname

Hi

I'm looking for native english speaker who could help me with my kennel name.


I was thinking for a kennel name with "wind" at the end. It will be more like a fantasyname. Example "Mindwind" "Lovewind" or something like that.

Could you tell me how you would interpret the word "wind" in those names?


The reason i'm asking is because i've read that the word "wind" could also be seen as flatulence? Is this common in english language?

This use of the word "wind" for flatulence is indeed common, but it all depends on the context. For example, if I said "Having breakfasted on baked beans, I experienced the windiest day of the year", then I would be inviting that interpretation. On the other hand, if I said "The first time I sailed to France I experienced the windiest day of the year", then no-one would think I was referring to flatulence.

So I suggest you steer clear of a context which could be misinterpreted, such as calling your kennel something like "Dogwind". The two examples you quote should be fairly safe...

Am I the only person who has no idea what a "kennel name" is? QuestionWind, are you simply trying to find a name to write on a sign and attach to your dog's kennel? Do you run a commercial kennel(s) where people pay to send their dogs to stay while they're on holiday? Or is "kennel name" a bit like a nickname?

There is an additional problem with the word "wind". It can also be pronounced with a long I, as in "wind a watch". If you want this name to be catchy, I would choose another word.

"Kennel" can refer to a commercial enterprise where animals are placed temporarily. It also can refer to an entity that breeds and sells purebred animals.
