"Colleges hate geniuses, just as convents hate saints." Please analyze this sentence for me. I can hardly [strike]get it across[/strike] understand it.

As you have been shown, this has already been answered. Please also see my corrections to your post above. Remember the following rules of written English:

- Start every sentence with a capital letter.
- End every sentence with a single appropriate punctuation mark.
- Always capitalise the word "I" (first person singular).
- Do not put a space before a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark.
- Always put a space after a full stop, comma, question mark or exclamation mark.

Please note that a better title would have been 'Colleges hate geniuses, just as convents hate saints'.

Extract from the Posting Guidelines:
'Thread titles should include all or part of the word/phrase being discussed.'

'Colleges hate geniuses, just as convents hate saints, because colleges and convents are eclipsed by geniuses and saints respectively.'
May I say so?

Not a teacher.
