Motivation Letter

I have always been fascinated by technology's impact on our lives. As a computer science graduate, I am keenly interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its potential to solve real-world problems. This is why I want to pursue the Erasmus Mundus Master in Artificial Intelligence (EMAI), with which I can gain the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful contribution to this field.


In my third year of university, we had a course titled 'Machine Learning.' At first, I thought it was just another subject in computer science, but as I delved deeper, I realized it was something special.

It opened a whole new world for me. I became curious about how machines can be trained to think like humans. I was amused to learn that machines can also learn and make decisions like us. This curiosity grew more intense as I explored further. I learned about artificial neural networks and how they resemble the human brain. I studied Machine learning and Deep learning algorithms and saw their implementations to solve real-life problems. I was especially interested in the application of AI in medical diagnosis, agriculture, business and military sectors.

In my final year, I focused my thesis on developing a hybrid machine-learning model for stock prediction. This topic was close to my heart because my family has been involved in stock investments, and I already had some understanding of the field. Under the guidance of my supervisors, I developed a model called "Hybstock," which combined deep learning techniques to predict stock prices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange. This project earned me excellent remarks from my university. It also led to my research paper, "Hybstock: A Hybrid Deep Learning-Based Model to Predict Stock Prices in Dhaka Stock Exchange," published at the 6th ICEEICT conference in 2024.

After graduating with a CGPA of 3.72 and securing the 5th position of 131 students in my department, I joined the Bangladesh Military Academy as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. I teach subjects like Data Structures, Algorithms, and Programming Languages here. Teaching has been a fantastic experience, allowing me to share my knowledge and inspire my students to explore technology. It has also strengthened my understanding of the basics, which is crucial for advanced research.

My short-term goal after graduation was to become a lecturer, and I am proud to have achieved that. However, my long-term goal is to become a researcher in AI and eventually work as a professor in Bangladesh. It is true that research facilities in my country are not up to par. But I want to change this condition. I want to contribute to developing the research sector in my country by sharing my expertise and encouraging young minds to pursue research. It pains me when I see that many talented graduates leave the country for better opportunities and get settled abroad. I want to change this trend by helping to build strong research facilities and promoting AI education in Bangladesh. I dream of a Bangladesh where students from different countries will come to study and do research.

The EMAI program stands out to me because it offers a unique opportunity to study at four top European universities—Pompeu Fabra University in Spain, Sapienza University in Italy, Radboud University in the Netherlands, and the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. Each of these universities is known for its excellence in AI research. I am excited to learn from leading experts, collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds, and explore different cultures. I think this diverse knowledge will help me to reach my goal.

Beyond academics, I have always believed in contributing to my community. As the Director of a voluntary organization called 'Aunkur Shishu Kishor Sahittyo Sankskritik Sangsad,' I organized a large scholarship program for school students. I led activities like tree plantation drives and beach cleanups in our city. I am also passionate about football and have been an active player in my local club. These experiences have taught me the importance of teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.

Through the EMAI program, I aim to deepen my understanding of AI and its applications. After completing the program, I plan to pursue a PhD to further specialize in this field. My ultimate dream is to integrate AI into Bangladesh's education and healthcare systems, making them more efficient and advanced.

I am confident that my academic background, teaching experience, and passion for AI make me a strong candidate for the EMAI program. I am eager to contribute to the program's community and take full advantage of this incredible opportunity to grow personally and professionally.
